Vitamin B2 (riboflavin) is an indispensable water-soluble vitamin in animal feed. As a core component of the coenzymes FMN and FAD, it is widely involved in the body's energy metabolism (particularly the oxidative breakdown of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins) and cellular respiration. In livestock production, Vitamin B2 is essential for maintaining normal growth, skin and mucosal health, visual function, and nervous system health in animals. Deficiency can cause typical deficiency symptoms, such as curled-toe paralysis, growth retardation, diarrhea, and ruffled feathers in poultry; dermatitis, eye diseases, and reproductive disorders in pigs; and angular stomatitis in young calves of ruminants. Since animals cannot synthesize it on their own and the content in feed ingredients like grains is limited, especially under intensive and high-performance production demands, it must be supplemented in complete feed to meet the nutritional requirements for rapid growth, high egg production, and high fertility.
